Percy 500:The In-Kraut

Fröhliche Weihnachten.Stage 3 of the Percy 500 is a winterly Ralley throughout Germany.East & West.This is more than just a ragbag of couriosities.Even if there are some Nuggets of Weirdness.Like the Cover of Black Sabbath's Paranoid by the ultra cheesy Schlager Duo Cindy & Bert.They completly changed the Lyrics to a summary of the Sherlock Holmes Novel"The Hound of the Baskervilles".Very Strange but ultra groovy.Other Covers are a Witchita Lineman version by Thomas Fritsch or 24 hours to Tulsa by Marion Maerz.There are also a few Songs from the "DDR",the socialist part of Germany.Maybe you find out which ones are.Please,let me know what you think.You will also find out where i stole my Name from. All Day at the Beach:The Maxwell Implosion Remixes

Issue 16 of Percy's Basementmade Remix Series.The Maxwell Implosion is Torsten Heller, a German DJ who fuses lounge, jazz, bossa nova, and soundtracks of the '60s and '70s. Before recording his own work, the record connoisseur had stints on the turntables in Japan, the United States, Moscow, Barcelona, and Rome. The Maxwell Implosion has played shows with Dimitri From Paris, the Brand New Heavies, Towa Tei, and the Cardigans, while remix work has included Pizzicato Five and Kenickie. His debut record, Small Circle of Friends, features contributions from like-minded artists such as Laila France, Nicola Conte, and Montefiori Cocktail.Maxwell was a Maniac. Everything he ever tried in his life (and was a lot), he did 150 %. He received his Doctorate in Medicine (but didn´t want to be rich), he studied Danish Design (but got bored), he is a vinyl-junkie... Maybe this all developed, because he escaped East-Germany before the Wall came down and had to discover western-decadence (like old vinyl records) in a very short time.Around the Year 2000 Maxwell suddenly disappeared.His heritage consists of a handful of Records & about 20 Remixes.Here are 14 of his finest.Maxwell we miss you.

1 Year P.O. Birthday:A Night of "Vorsprung durch Technik"

Day6:Most of our Time we spent today at the German Pavilion which is mostly underground.We watched a Fashion Show by the Designer Rudi Gernreich.It was called "Unisex" and was presented by a bald shaved Male/Female Couple.Both wore identical Cloth.Women in pants and men in skirts, everything can and should be interchangeable with each other.Quiet a Scandal.Upon the Pavilion they build the world's first, and so far only, spherical concert hall. It was based on artistic concepts by Karlheinz Stockhausen and an audio-technical concept from the Electronic Studio at the Technical University in Berlin. The audience sit on a sound-permeable grid just below the centre of the sphere, 500 loudspeakers arranged all around reproduced, fully in three dimensions, electro-acoustic sound compositions that had been specially commissioned or adapted for this unique space.And there we will whitness a Night of "Vorsprung durch Technik".See you all tomorrow.

Chicks on Beat NO.5.In the early '60s, Germany was still trying to come to terms with its past.The Split between East & West Germany was the overall Topic of the following Years.But with the post-war economic miracle the german Youth was eager for foreign Pop Culture.German record companies refused to hear the call for something more hip, and continued to force-feed schmaltzy, high camp fare to their Artists.While most of the younger german Artists turn their Heads overseas,a lot of foreign Artists discover Germany as a marketplace for their Music.In the 60's nearly every european and a lot U.S. Artists sang their Hits in german.From France Gall,Petula Clark,Milva,Dusty Dringfield to Majorplayers like Johnny Cash.So there was only room for a few german Singers to reach for international Standards or even cross the Boarders to the rest of the World.Most have to stuck with a kind of low-grade pop lite that gave German music a bad name.Here are a very few that were granted access to the catalogue of cool.Viel Spaß

I played at a Movieaftershow Party last Week.For some reason i played a Set with a lot of Tracks with German Lyrics.After i finished i had an interesting conversation with some People from around the World.They were really surprised that there was Dancemusic like that in Germany.I asked them what represents german Music for them( except Kraftwerk).Of course the worst of them all,the idiotically Rammstein & Techno selloffs Westban,Paul van Dyck and Sven Väth.That's unfair.So put together this mix to show that german Music is more than the rolling"Rrrrr" & Soft washed 4 on the Floor for everyone.This is also Homage to a Myth."Schwabylon".In the Mid-Seventies Munich was a place of the Internaional Jet Set.
The Schwabylon was a huge Complex that looked like a Pyramid without angle.It was home to a Shopping Mall,Hotel,Restaurants,Casinos & a Nightclub.The Whole Building was painted in Red ,Orange & Yellow and had no Stairs only Ramps.It was a total Ruin and closed after a Year but the Nightclub"Yellow Submarine" survived.It became the Home to the Sound Of Munich.Marked by Producers like Giorgio Moroder,Frank Farian and Harold Faltermeyer.If you want to know more leave Comment or Google yourself.
