Percy 500:South American Getaway

Bem-vindo a parte 4 do Percy 500.While most of the World is captured in Ice & Snow we take the South American Getaway to escape in the warm & seductive Sounds of Latin Music. The Bossa Nova(New Trend)originally developed in Brazil became the most influencial Style for the Music of the Sixties that not came from the U.S. or Europe. The worldwide boom came in 1963 with the all Time Classic "Getz/Gilberto". This Mix of Cool Jazz and the easy life Sound of the middle to upper-class Brazilians became the synonym for a sophisticaded Lifestyle throughout Bachelor Pads worldwide. These 40 Songs from around the Globe shall show how big the impact of Latin Music was and still is.Besides the of the Originators,Eumir Deodato,Luiz Henrique,Marcos Valle,Sergio Mendes and Joao & Astrud Gilberto. We have The Gimmicks, Lill Lindfors,Karin Krog from Scandinavia. From Germany come the Lounge Kings Bert Kaempfert,Addy Flor,Heinz Kiesling & Jazz Maestro Klaus Doldinger. The States send of course the Latin Jazz Legends Stan Getz,Cal Tjader,Lee Evans & Mr. Exotic Martin Denny.Plus a lot more Hipsters from around the Globe.I hope you enjoy this trip to a long lost World of Style & Understatement.Percy

  1. Superb ♥ Really outstanding ♥ ♥ So enchanting! It's as though I've been able to book a return engagement on the cruise ship whisking me away to Holidays in the South Zone, so I am once again waving to the girls, feeling out of sight, and spending all of my money on a Tuesday morning(which is when I was first able to listen to this mix) on those non-alcoholic drinks with their fancy umbrellas ♥ And I am surprised to see The Godfather of Easy Listening himself, Mr. Bert Kaempfert on this same excursion(but he tells me I shouldn't be all _that_ surprised, and I believe him), and to find the song "Spinning Wheel" has actually been made listenable..! I didn't think that was possible..! To think I was actually hoping it wasn't the "Spinning Wheel" I was familiar with when I ran down the track listing and recognized the title.. I'm actually glad it was though, since I now know "Spinning Wheel" on Brazilian Holiday is the only way you should listen to that song~ "Bend Me, Shape Me" and "I Feel Fine" wear that particular sound quite nicely as well :D Oh, and hearing a Martin Denny song that wasn't one I was already familiar with by way of Hosono covers ♥
I do believe you have inspired me to finally go about hearing a proper album of his(already picked out which one it will be too~) And the Astrud Gilberto songs were extra-fine as well.. Delightful cruise companions, all of them~ They put me in a charitable mood, for sure, so drink up, everyone, the fancy umbrella-ed non-alcoholic drinks are on me ♥(but if you happen to have a different preference, you're on your own.. I'm not about to support anyones delinquency :\)

Love, love, love, love, love this mix ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Thank you so much for compiling and sharing it, Percy!
